Abstract

In December, annual consumer inflation was 4.48% (as opposed to 4.58% in September). This is at the center of the target range for 2006. Although the growth in inflation at December was consistent with expectations, the rise in non-food consumer prices (CPI) and other core inflation indicators, which averaged 4.52%, was a surprise.

Description

En diciembre la inflación anual al consumidor se situó en 4,48% (frente a 4,58% en septiembre), cifra que corresponde al punto medio del rango meta que se había fijado para el año. Aunque el aumento de la inflación de diciembre estaba dentro de lo previsto, sorprendió el repunte del índice de precios al consumidor (IPC) sin alimentos y de otros indicadores de inflación básica, cuyo promedio se ubicó en 4,51%.
